Abstract

The development of language proficiency test instrumens in Arabic is an important part of supporting the effectiveness of Arabic language learning in education. Considering the complexity of Arabic, which is rich in morphological and syntactical structures, test development should cover four key of language skills: listening (istima’), speaking (kalam), reading (qira’ah), and writing (kitabah). This study aims to provide an overview of how to design valid, reliable, and applicable test instrumens for assessing Arabic language proficiency in the learning process. The test instrumen development process involves needs analysis, test specification preparation, item test development, as well as trials and continuous evaluation. It is expected that this test instrumen will provide an accurate picture of learners' ability to master Arabic language skills. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the improvement of assessment quality in Arabic language learning as a foreign language.
