Tatkala Merawat Bumi Menjadi Bermakna: Konsep Kesalehan Ekoteologis Dalam Pandangan Al-Qur’an
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to formulate the concept of ecotheological piety from the perspective of the Qur’an and to explain how Qur’anic values can be translated into sustainable ecological behavior and collective action. The study employs a qualitative library-research approach, using the Qur’an as the primary normative source, supported by Qur’anic exegesis, scholarly articles, policy sources, and relevant reports. The analysis is thematic: ecological principles in Qur’anic verses concerning the human relationship with the earth are identified and then synthesized into a framework of ecotheological piety. The findings indicate seven interconnected principles: tawhid, khalifah, amanah, mizan, ihya’u al-mauta, hima, and man’u al-fasad wa al-israf. Tawhid provides a transcendent orientation; khalifah defines humanity’s mandate to manage the earth; amanah emphasizes accountability; mizan establishes balance; ihya’u al-mauta directs ecological restoration; hima emphasizes the protection of ecologically important areas; and man’u al-fasad wa al-israf limits destructive and excessive practices. QS. Al-Baqarah [2]: 30 and QS. Ar-Rum [30]: 41 provide important normative foundations for understanding human status and ecological responsibility. The article also proposes Jam’iyyatu al-Balad al-Akhdhor al-Qur’ani as a collaborative model connecting society, the state, ecology, and theology. Accordingly, caring for the earth is understood not merely as conservation activity, but as a form of religious praxis that connects faith, ethics, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability.
