Pengendalian Persediaan Barang Dagang pada Toko Sembako Berkah Jaya

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the weaknesses of the current running system and design an optimal merchandise inventory control strategy at the Berkah Jaya Grocery Store in Tuban Regency, which currently faces risks of dead stock and financial losses due to the absence of a structured recording system for its heterogeneous commodities. The method applied in this research is qualitative with a descriptive case study approach, where primary data collection was intensively carried out through in-depth interview techniques, direct observation of the store layout, and documentation. The results of the study show that physical arrangement that has not implemented the First In First Out (FIFO) principle triggers new supplies to pile up in front of old stock, thereby causing dead stock. Action recommendations are focused on restructuring the physical product zoning, integrating periodic stock cards, and enforcing a non-debt transaction policy to accelerate working capital turnover. The implications of this study provide a practical contribution in the form of a tactical managerial guide for the owner to independently manage stock risks, while theoretically enriching the literature on operational management on a micro-scale within rural economies.
