Abstract

This study examines the integration of Qur’anic exegesis and science in understanding the Qur’anic verses about mosquitoes and quails (salwa). The study is motivated by the importance of reading natural phenomena in the Qur’an not only as theological symbols but also as scientific objects that contain moral and ecological values. The research focuses on analyzing the meaning of the mosquito in QS. Al-Baqarah [2]: 26 and the quail (salwa) in QS. Al-Baqarah [2]: 57 and relating them to perspectives from biology, ecology, and nutrition science. This research employs a qualitative library-based method using a thematic tafsir approach and an interdisciplinary analysis that combines classical and contemporary exegesis with biological science. The findings show that the mosquito represents the complexity of a small creature with an important ecological role in maintaining ecosystem balance, while the quail is understood as a symbol of sustenance with high nutritional value and a role in the food chain. The integration of tafsir and science highlights the harmony between revelation and scientific findings and enriches the understanding of Qur’anic verses on natural phenomena in a comprehensive way.
