Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of transformative learning through a reading-based flipped learning strategy in managing the learning environment in pesantren. The approach used is qualitative with a case study design to deeply understand the process and meaning of learning experienced by students (santri) within the context of education based on Islamic scholarly traditions The research subjects are 10 and 11 PDF Ulya students at Pesantren DDI Mangkoso who engage in learning through assignments to read the kitab (classic books) or teaching materials prior to subsequent class meetings. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation of learning activities Data analysis employed thematic analysis techniques, involving stages of reduction, display, and meaning drawing, while data validity was maintained through source and technique triangulation.
