Kisah Ashabul A’rab dalam QS. al-A’raf 46-49: Analisis Tafsir Mafatih al-Ghaib li Ar-Razzi dengan Teori Paul Ricoeur

Abstract
The story of Ashābul A‘rāf in Q.S. Al-A‘raf verses 46-49 portrays a group of people positioned between paradise and hell. They are called Ashābul A‘rāf because they stand on a high place (al-a‘rāf), symbolizing their uncertain fate. This research aims to examine ar-Razi’s interpretation of Ashābul A‘rāf in Tafsīr Mafātīḥ al-Ghaib and analyze its moral relevance through Paul Ricoeur’s hermeneutic approach, particularly the concept of caution in performing deeds. This is a library research using a Tahlīlī interpretation method and Paul Ricoeur’s hermeneutic framework. The findings reveal that, according to al-Razi, Ashābul A‘rāf are people whose good and bad deeds are balanced. They stand between paradise and hell, witnessing both, and eventually, by God’s mercy, they are admitted into paradise. Through Ricoeur’s threefold mimesis (mimesis I–III), the story symbolizes the moral journey of human beings, emphasizing the importance of self-awareness and ethical caution in modern life.
