Main Article Content
Abstract
Providing advice is an integral part of Islamic teachings in maintaining the quality of faith and improving people's morals. QS. Thaha verses 43–44 provide direct guidance on how Prophets Moses and Harun were instructed to advise Pharaoh in a gentle manner. The hadith "ad-dīn an-naṣīhah" also emphasizes the position of advice as the core of religion. This article aims to examine the ethics of giving advice based on these two sources using the library research method. The results of the study show that the ethics of giving advice in Islam include gentleness of speech, paying attention to the psychological condition of the object of advice, sincere intentions, wisdom in delivery, and making the common good the main goal. This ethics has a big impact on moral development, especially in the social context of modern society.
