Selektivitas Pendapat Ulama dalam Tafsir Rūḥ al-Ma‘ānī dan Implikasinya terhadap Metodologi Tafsir

Abstract

This study analyzes the mechanism of selectivity in the opinions of scholars in al-Sayyid Maḥmūd al-Alūsī's Tafsir Rūḥ al-Ma‘ānī and its implications for the methodology of tafsir. The focus of this study is how al-Alūsī weighs, accepts, or rejects the opinions of previous scholars based on epistemological, linguistic, and rational grounds, rather than simply presenting the contents of the tafsir. This study uses a qualitative method with library research, using Rūḥ al-Ma‘ānī as the primary source and scientific literature as secondary sources. The analysis was conducted through content analysis and hermeneutics to identify the mufassir's selective thinking patterns. The results show that al-Alūsī's selectivity is a form of epistemic ijtihad that combines tafsir bi al-ma'tsūr and bi al-ra'yi, presenting a balance between tradition and rationality. The implication is that al-Alūsī presents an integrative tafsir methodology model that bridges classical and modern tafsir. The novelty of this research lies in the conceptual analysis of al-Alūsī's selective mechanism as a scientific thinking process of mufassir, not merely a style of tafsir. This research contributes to the development of tafsir methodology studies by emphasizing selectivity as an epistemic foundation in the process of interpreting the Qur'an.
