Reinterpretasi Makna Ḍaraba Dalam QS. Al-Nisa/4: 34: Mengurai Nusyuz Dengan Romantisme

Abstract
Domestic conflict is one of the family issues that is highly vulnerable to ending in divorce. One of the causes of domestic conflict is the occurrence of domestic violence (DV). Religious discourse also plays a role in addressing such conflicts. Qur’an Surah al-Nisā’ verse 34, which outlines solutions to nushūz, contains the phrase daraba, which is often understood textually as “to hit,” making it prone to misunderstanding. This study aims to offer an alternative interpretation of the phrase daraba in Qur’an 4:34. This research is qualitative in the form of library research using the taḥlilī method approach. The findings show that daraba does not necessarily mean “to hit,” but can also be interpreted as making physical contact in the sense of engaging in marital intimacy. The implication of this research lies in its contribution to presenting a discourse that resolves domestic conflict not through violence but through gentleness.
