Kenduri Sko: Menjaga Warisan Leluhur sebagai Simbol Identitas Indigenous Desa Baru Lempur Kerinci
Main Article Content
Abstract
The Kenduri Sko tradition is a cultural heritage of the Kerinci people that holds symbolic meaning as a form of ancestral reverence and a marker of local cultural identity. This study aims to describe how the Kenduri Sko tradition contributes to preserving the indigenous identity of the Baru Lempur village community amid the pressures of modernization. Using a descriptive-qualitative approach with a social and cultural psychology framework, the article explores the social significance, role structure, and ritual contributions to community cohesion. The findings reveal that Kenduri Sko is not merely a customary celebration, but a means to strengthen solidarity, foster a sense of belonging, and preserve collective values through the distribution of social roles and intergenerational participation. Core values such as mutual cooperation, ancestral respect, and youth involvement serve as foundations in reinforcing indigenous community identity. The implications suggest that maintaining local traditions like Kenduri Sko plays a vital role in cultural resilience and the psychosocial well-being of society. Thus, this tradition remains highly relevant and should be preserved and passed down as a cultural sustainability strategy in the face of globalization.
